My Bio

My name is Blair McElroy, and I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 15 years experience who specializes in individual therapy with a private practice in Marin County, California. I am licensed in the State of California through the Board of BehavioraI Sciences (LCS 64863).

I graduated with honors from Mount Holyoke College, and earned my MSW at the Boston College Graduate School of Social Work. At Boston College, I was awarded the Helen J. Crowley Memorial Award for outstanding clinical contribution in the field of social work.

My areas of expertise include helping clients with anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, self-compassion and coping skills, grief and loss, mindfulness and stress management interventions, work and career challenges, and life transition issues.

My experience includes: training at the Stone Center Counseling Service Wellesley College; completion of a post-MSW fellowship at Boston Children's Hospital Outpatient Psychiatry Department; and working as a Staff Clinician at Bowdoin College's Counseling Service prior to starting a private practice in Maine and then California.

Related to my interest in mindfulness modalities, I have completed trainings for courses in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction at UCSF, Mindful Self-Compassion at Spirit Rock,  and Educator Essentials for K-12 students through Mindful Schools. To further my training in psychodynamic psychotherapy, I completed the two-year Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Training Program at the San Francisco Center for Psychoanalysis in 2023, which deepened my skills in the fundamentals of psychoanalytic theory and practice.

With an integrative therapeutic approach, I draw from relational, cognitive-behavioral, mind-body, and psychodynamic theoretical orientations. I also offer complementary methodologies and techniques to provide a highly personalized approach tailored to each client.
